Gold mining in Zimbabwe – intro

When I first thought of researching about mining opportunities in Zimbabwe, I didn’t have any expert in mind. I started scribbling down Zimbabwe mining gurus I know. When the name Tawanda Machaka came to mind, I said to myself: This is the ziminvestors expert.

I visited Tawanda at his house and asked him to do one thing. Expose mining opportunities in Zimbabwe. I thought he would talk about diamonds first but surprisingly he stuck to the traditional mineral we are all somehow familiar with. He picked Gold mining. Now fasten your seatbelts and take a tour into this great man’s mind.

Insight into the Gold mining opportunities in Zimbabwe – Tawanda Machaka

In the 1970s, during Hitler’s peak, German was going through mass rearmament programs and preparing to conquer the world. This demanded large sums of money and a solid supply of raw materials. You say what does this have to do with mining in Zimbabwe? Here is the fact.

With a single mission, hundreds of geologists and metallurgists were shipped to many different countries of the world, one of them the then Rhodesia. The mission was to find gold. To this day, from the plains of the low veld, the valley of Mazowe to the mountains of the Eastern Highlands and the Great Dyke, one can still trace the trail of abandoned gold mines left by the German gold miners.

Today in 2014, little has changed in the wealth under the Zimbabwean soils except that a few more valuable minerals have been added to the menu. Some accidentally discovered others discovered by exploration expeditions. All the mining intelligentsias agree that the wealth underground is far much more than what we have established. This is because of lack of investment funds in geological explorations which in itself is a fundamental part of the whole mining industry in Zimbabwe and the rest of the world. At its peak, Zimbabwe produced 29 tonnes of gold in 1999 compared to less than 10 tonnes in 2010.

This reflects just how many investment opportunities can be found in gold mining in Zimbabwe. With proper investment, the mining opportunities in Zimbabwe are endless. And you the reader can reap your share of the miracle money from the underground.
