Today’s life has become very hectic. There is so much to do within a day to such an extent that sometimes we wish there was more than 24 hours in a day. What is a life coach?

When I went through the Life Coaching Certification training by one of the best life coaches in Africa, he first defined coaching by explaining to us who a life coach is not. A life coach is not a genie in Aladdin’s hands with magical powers or a mystical surge who will dissolve all your problems, remove your stress, eliminate your stress symptoms and all your problems. A life coach is in reality a person who will hold your hand and assist you to do the things you believe in, that make you happy against the results or targets you have pre-set and are happy with.

What do life certified life coaches do?

I have already answered part of what a life  coach does. I have encountered many people who call themselves life coaches however, they fail to help individuals in areas where a certified coach can without breaking a sweat. Certified life coaches are coaches who have been trained and found competent to use a variety of powerful strategies, techniques and tools to create effective and lasting changes in people’s lives. They are skilled in doing this after a few sessions and they usually succeed at solving lifelong problems within a few minutes. It is critical when you are being coached to also find out if your coach is certified. How???

How to become a life coach

To become a life coach, besides the will to do it, you need to be trained by a Master Practitioner. I am personally a certified life coach. You also need to check if your trainer is registered with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or the local coaching association in your country. When I decided to embark on coaching, I spend more than three months searching for the perfect course and asking for referrals etc. The search ended when I stumbled upon Africa’s best Master Coach at Action Factory.
