Towards the end of 2014, I had a lengthy chat with a friend of mine, Farai Madzara who is a Consultant. We talked about how most companies are finding the traditional print and newspaper advertising EXPENSIVE and sometimes INEFFECTIVE to reach THOUSANDS of potential customers per day!!!
The conversation ended up being about ZimShoppingMalls.com, which he described as the new phone book of the 21st century!
ZimShoppingMalls.com is a directory listing of all the major Shopping Malls in Zimbabwe. Each Shopping Mall has its own website containing a comprehensive directory listing of member shops. ZimShoppingMalls.com visitors can search for a shopping mall near a city or simply search for a neighborhood and the system will give them all the malls in that neighborhood.
For example, on ZimShoppingMalls.com, a consumer can search for Avondale and the system will return results of the malls in the Avondale region. The user can then click avondaleshops.com and either browse the directory listing of shops or search for the specific product/service they are looking for and the system will show them the shops/businesses at avondaleshops.com offering that product/service.
The consumer can then click on the specific establishment to get its webpage containing the directory details such as physical address, business hours, contact details, location map with directions, company
logo and products/services as applicable. The webpage can be customized to reflect the establishment’s branding. For a good example you can view http://strathavenshops.com/listings/springjava-coffee-internet-bar/ from any device that has internet connection.
Why Should You List on ZimShoppingMalls.com?
The internet has become the most effective and cost efficient way to reach a desired market in this IT era. In addition to being a directory, ZimShoppingMalls focuses on technology assisted advertising and sales promotion initiatives. While advertising is concerned with conveying information to consumers, sales promotions are short-term incentive tools designed to stimulate quicker and greater purchase of particular products or services by customers.
What’s next?
My conversation with Farai Madzara went on to include the cost you will have to pay to leverage your products online through the company. I have decided to not include it here and if you wish to learn more, Farie can be contacted on farimadzara@gmail.com or mobile number +263 776 366 955
Great! will have a look at that but no matter how we may want to adopt the digital age, the majority of us Zimbabweans are Nyaa, i have my nokia phone, i dont have airtime and data all the time, i know news that comes out everyday not because i buy the paper but i ask people and they buy newspapers meaning that they see adverts, so either you dont have the money to advetise because of the economy and opt for digital because its less expensive,,,
